Make this Family Day Unforgettable

Have you ever sat down to actually think about when was the last time you spent some quality time with your family? In this century of rapid technology development, it seems that a lot of us spend more time on the screen rather than having real interactions with our family. If this is what you have been doing, it’s time to come out and have fun with your loved ones because Family day is around the corner. Gather your entire family and check out the list of activities you can do on February 17 – Family Day!

Family volunteering

If you have time to plan ahead, try volunteering with your family! Volunteering is a good way to give back to the community and also allows you to interact with each other. It is also a nice way to show your children the importance of helping out. Places such as senior care homes, food banks, community gardens and certain events are always in need of help. See if there are any positions available and make sure your children are eligible to participate because some of them have an age restriction.

Family Day Workshop

There are plenty of arts and crafts workshops available for families ranging from pottery, painting, drawing, cooking and many more. But what about a workshop that combines science and art? On family day, Action Potential Lab is holding a workshop that shows how stuffed toys are made. The money raised from the tickets will go to Canadian Red Cross to support relief work for the fires in Australia. If you are down for learning along with having some fun, give it a try!

Hockey Hall Of Fame

If you have kids and they are fans of hockey, take them to the Hockey Hall Of Fame! Kids are the VIPs on this Family Day and will receive free admission to the five interactive zones. And of course, they can snap a photo with the Stanley Cup!

Evergreen Brick Work

For a casual and fun gathering, enjoy and celebrate in the heart of Don Valley. There are local vendors selling tasty food, a skating rink and you can also enjoy a site tour to learn more about the history of the place.

TBFF Kids Film Festival

TBFF is having its 2nd edition of the TBFF Kids Film Festival this year. It is designed to offer a cool space for children to learn, be creative and tell their stories while exposing them about black history and stories. If you are interested in watching movies at the TBFF, do not miss the Canadian Premiere of ‘The Great Green Wall’ by Jared P. Scottat. Co-presented by GSGF, ‘The Great Green Wall’ is a documentary about an ambitious vision of growing an 8000 km ‘wall’ of trees stretching across the entire width of Africa.

This movie will not only inspire adults but also kids.

We hope you have a fabulous Family Day!
