What to do on International Day of Charity

Have you ever been inspired to do something good for the world, or have you witnessed the suffering of others and wished to help? However, you may be short on time or unsure about what to do. September 5th is International Day of Charity, and you may take advantage of it by motivating yourself to get engaged in the community. This post contains some ideas for anyone who wants to make a difference but isn’t sure where to begin.

Around 9.2 percent of the world’s population (around 689 million people) live in poverty. Poverty is defined not only by a lack of money, but also by lack of quality of life, lack of education, and the inability to obtain medical treatment. A large proportion of individuals in this world are living in multidimensional poverty. That means, a person’s income may be over the poverty line, but he or she may not have access to clean water or proper hygiene, and their family may not have completed the six years of schooling.

The United Nations General Assembly established September 5th, the International Day of Charity in 2012. Mother Teresa, a well-known humanitarian, passed away on September 5th. She dedicated her life to helping others, on her death anniversary, we remind ourselves how our acts of kindness may mean the world to someone else.

There are several methods for you to give back to your community and the world. Your donations, time, abilities, and minor efforts to help others are the only things that the world needs to be a better place for everyone.

Here are some ideas on how you may help during the Pandemic and when things finally return to normal.

Feeding the needy: You may help by making meals for those in need. Look for local food banks and inquire about volunteer opportunities. You may support by preparing the meal, packaging the food, or contributing money for the food.

Cleaning the beach: A wonderful way to give back to the world is by cleaning up the waste that harms our ecology. You should do it on a daily basis, but on this day, do some extra effort and clean up the trash at the beach or in the forest.

Plant a tree: Yes! We will always require nature for our survival; ensure that you are a preserver rather than a butcher of nature. Plant some trees on September 5th, or on your birthday every year. When you link an act with a certain occasion, you will never forget it.

It would also be fantastic if you start a home garden. Producing your own food is an additional level of doing good for your health and the health of your family.

Depending on where you live, you might have different ways to plant the tree in the community, so do your research and be physically involved in the process of planting. Make sure you take your kids with you.

If you are unable to go and plant it yourself, or if it is not possible in your community, you may do so virtually by contributing a dollar or two to the organizations that will plant the tree from your donation. One Tree Planted and Plant A Tree Project. are two of the organizations.

Teaching children: Our children are our future. We must devote our time and effort to teaching them the good and bad. Involve children in any charitable work you are undertaking. Speak to children about the value of charity, donating their toys, holding the door for others, or simply being polite to everyone.

Inform others: If you are unable to contribute your time or money for any reason, you may just spread the word and inform people about the causes you wish to support. Write a blog article, share a social media message, or inform your family or friends about the organizations that are helping the community. Perhaps your words inspire someone to donate to a worthy cause.
